Ms. Somers, a mom of three young adults, was a corporate sector manager before becoming an adult film actress. While antipornography activists claim that porn is exploitative to individuals and detrimental to society on moral grounds, peer-reviewed research indicates that porn consumption is not biologically addictive. In fact, pornography offers educational value and has a positive impact on sexual health and well-being. Furthermore, today’s adult film professionals have resources that weren’t historically available. The Adult Performer Advocacy Committee is a labor group that offers an array of support for performers.
